We moved into the farm at Sherratts Wood in 2006 and firmly believe that the countryside can provide a unique environment to nurture the potential of individuals and groups.

Over the past 12 months we have been working with the support of the Federation of City Farms & Community Gardens, National Care Farming Initiative and the Staffordshire Rural Hub, not forgetting the network of Care Farmers across Staffordshire, to establish a viable farm enterprise and ensure that we are able to offer the best service we possibly can.

Meet the Team:

Brendon Fletcher-Chard

Having spent many years working in social housing and on economic and social regeneration projects, Brendon moved onto the development of a City Farm in Newcastle-u-Lyme as part of the North Staffordshire Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder project. Transferring these skills, Brendon has undertaken CEVAS accreditation and Care Farm training modules and PTLLS training. He will be hands on in the delivery of practical animal husbandry and rural craft activities with our Day-Famers.

He is also following his dream of becoming Staffordshire's version of 'Jimmy's Farm' having developed a commercial pig breeding enterprise at Sherratts Wood Farm.

Louise Fletcher-Chard

With a background in supporting vulnerable long term unemployed people to gain skills and employment through environmental activities whilst working with the Groundwork movement, alongside a successful career in social housing, Louise will support Brendon in delivering practical activities on the farm alongside a primary responsibility for PR and business development activity. Louise's passion is for her horses and as such she will also be focussed on developing the equestrian side of the farming business.

Rob Butler

Rob has had a long and distinguished career working with the Scouting movement and Groundwork Trust helping individuals and groups to realise their maximum potential. His role at Groundwork included supporting long term unemployed people to deliver environmental activities alongside his primary responsibility of Health & Safety Manager. Rob has since developed his own very successful Health, Safety & Environmental consultancy. Rob will advise us on all aspects of Health, Safety & Environmental issues and continue to offer his consultancy advice to other care farmers.
